The 2019 edition of Cafés de Colombia Expo, the most important specialty coffee fair in Latin America and the Caribbean, opens its doors to the public this weekend.

This important event, which every year brings together the coffee chain from seed to cup, will take place from October 17 to 20 at the International Business and Exhibition Center of Bogotá (Corferias).

This year the expected attendance is about 18,000 visitors. Organized by the FNC, the expo promotes coffee culture and highlights the great diversity of coffee in Colombia.

What you’ll learn at Cafes de Colombia Expo

At this fair you’ll not only get to see some of the best brands in standard as well as specialty coffee from around Colombia, but you’ll also have the opportunity to watch coffee championships taking place and listen to the academic agenda (if you speak Spanish).

More than 100 exhibitors will be packed into the 6,000 square meters. That gives you the chance to speak with coffee producers, important coffee institutions, manufacturers and distributors of machinery and supplies, as well as coffee shop owners, baristas, tasters, and exporters.

Championships and academic agenda

During the expo, the following championships will take place:

  • XIV Colombian Barista Championship
  • IX Colombian Cupping Championship
  • II Coffee x2 Championship
  • Colombian Roasters Championship

From Thursday to Saturday the academic agenda will cover a variety of topics. They’ll dive into climate considerations for coffee production and agronomic practices for coffee profitability in Brazil, opportunities to export coffee, fermentation techniques, coffee and cardiovascular health, how to build peace using coffee, and assisted harvesting tools in Colombia.
